Trace

Lin Yu returned to her small room with the diary and photographs. A gentle breeze rustled the curtains by the window. She placed the box on the table and carefully flipped through each page, as though touching the memories of the past. The lines between the words were filled with the flutter of youth, the laughter of summer days, and a pure, secret promise.

She decided to go to the town library to look for clues. The air between the bookshelves carried the scent of paper as she sifted through old newspaper archives, searching for the names of the people in the photographs. No name was left in the diary, but on the back of one photo was written: “To you in the future—no matter when, remember the riverbank in summer.”

Just as Lin Yu was lost in thought, an elderly librarian approached and noticed the photo in her hand. “This is a photo from ten years ago. The person you’re looking for might be called Lin Chen. He used to play guitar by the river back then.”

Lin Yu’s heart jolted—she hadn’t expected to stumble upon the town’s past like this.
